We may not have been able to do anything about the weather, but our SecuriPods have been helping to keep tennis fans in Nottingham safe all this week – even if they spent their visit peering out from underneath their umbrellas.
For the second year running, 10 of our temporary HVM devices have been installed outside the Nottingham Tennis Centre, the venue for this week’s Nature Valley Open Tennis Tournament.
Arranged in two rows to protect staff, players, media and fans accessing the front of the centre, the SecuriPods have been a hidden presence, since each one has been placed beneath large A-boards offering directional information for visitors.
It took just 25 minutes for our staff to install the SecuriPods ahead of the start of the event, creating an instant barrier that prevents traffic from accessing the area while allowing pedestrians, families with pushchairs, cyclists and people in wheelchairs free access.
Measuring just 79cm high and consisting of a framework bristling with steel fins beneath a recycled polyethylene covering, the SecuriPods have been proven to be capable of bringing an 18-tonne truck to a controlled stop, earning them the industry standard IWA-14 performance rating.
Mark Stone, managing director of Securiscape, said: “Our installation last year went very smoothly and so we were delighted to be invited to install our SecuriPods outside the Nature Valley Open Tennis again.
Safety at any public event is paramount and although everybody hopes that events pass off without incident, temporary barriers that can quickly and economically close off a road creates priceless peace of mind.”
The polyethylene cover can be supplied in any colour in order to match an event’s corporate branding, while its flat sides can be used for wording, branding or directional signage.
The SecuriPods are also designed to incorporate a planter, meaning that organisers can mount floral displays on top of the cubes in order to decorate the entrance to their events and further disguise the security below.
