It’s one of the newest hotels in the West Midlands, but in the current security climate, the latest visitor addition to Birmingham’s NEC couldn’t be declared complete until it was given full hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) protection.
Vital to making sure staff and guests feel safe – and get a good night’s sleep – HVM measures are an increasingly important provision in order to safeguard lives and protect property.
In this case, the brief was straightforward – create a ring of steel around the building to prevent unwanted vehicle incursion without creating a barrier for pedestrians.

The answer was to install 80 of our HVM anti-ram PAS68 security bollards all the way around the hotel, which offer heavy-duty protection without drawing attention to themselves thanks to their brushed steel finish and resemblance to a standard bollard.
Mark Stone, managing director of Securiscape, said: “Our heavy duty PAS68 HVM bollards are an easy-to-fit and effective security solution but they do not look out of place in a leisure and hospitality setting because they have been finished with a stylish shroud.
“They have been tested rigorously so that they can withstand an impact from a 7.5 tonne truck travelling at 40mph, yet they are straightforward to fit.
“This installation took a matter of days to complete and we’re very pleased with the result.”
Securiscape supplies a range of heavy-duty PAS68 bollards in four different sizes and in a range of finishes, including powder coated colour schemes matching your corporate branding, plastic, brushed stainless steel or patinated brass, all capable of foiling heavy impacts from fast-moving vehicles, either through a hostile attack or ram-raid.
