It is with great sadness that we share the news that Ray Stone passed away after a short illness on September 25 this year.
Ray, who was a familiar face at our premises in Hulland Ward, was a loving husband to the late June, a father, grandfather and great grandfather, as well as a well-known member of the local community.
He was also an inspiration to our founder, Mark Stone, having run his own successful floristry businesses in Belper and Derby for many years before continuing to lend his support – in amongst tending to his tomatoes – during his long and happy retirement.
His funeral service was held on October 29 with close family, neighbours and friends in attendance, who kindly made donations to the Stroke Association and Diabetes UK, raising £600.
Mark would like to thank Sonia and Chloe for their support for Ray for many years, the staff on the stroke ward at the Derby Royal Hospital, Nigel Allen of Joseph Allen and Sons and Sally Ward – “the best celebrant I have ever heard.”
“God Bless you Dad – and may flights of florists guide you to your beloved wife June and your parents, Kathleen and George.”
