They looked the best in the business when we fitted them five years ago and recently we returned to give a row of security HVM planters in London their own makeover to bring them back to their best.
The planters – there are seven in all – line the entrance to Brent Borough Council’s civic centre close to Wembley Stadium, creating an attractive welcome to the building while ensuring a potential attack from hostile vehicles will be kept at bay.
However, although the planters can still mount a stout HVM defence, the rigours of city life had taken their toll on their appearance with the stainless steel surround having long lost its shine.
The plants, meanwhile, looked unkempt and unloved, the double yellow stripes around each planter were looking tatty and in need of a refresh and countless cigarette butts had been pressed into the soil.
To return everything back to its former glory, we buffed the shine back to the stainless steel, replaced the old plants with brand new displays and replaced the yellow tape.
Finally, we applied No Smoking signs to the planters to prevent them from being turned into seven giant ashtrays again.
The beauty of our planters is way more than skin deep. Each one consists of a high-tech steel framework which surrounds a tough polyethylene planter, creating a product which is strong enough to stop a 7.5 tonne truck travelling at 40mph in its tracks – earning them their coveted PAS 68-2010 standard.
Street planters are not the only items we maintain. We have installed our security bollards elsewhere in the area around Wembley Stadium and we restored their finery by removing a host of small stickers and maintaining the mechanism of our innovative glide bollards.
