Hot on the heels of our innovative and life-saving HVM Pedestrian Guardrail system we are now proud to announce the launch of a new version specially designed for sites where only shallow excavations are possible.
Called the HVM Socketed Guardrail, it has achieved its all-important IWA-14 rating after being subjected to a Highways England crash test involving a 2.5 tonne pick-up driven at 30mph at the vehicle testing facility MIRA.
The test result is a huge step forward for the technology behind the guardrail, which is the first pedestrian safety fence to use a ground-mounted socket combined with Securiscape’s own SmartPost technology.
This arrangement works by ensuring that the force from the impact dissipates along the length of the railings, an innovation which means it requires only a shallow fixing into the pavement surface.
This makes it ideals for locations where deeper excavations are not possible, such as on bridges and places where there are underground services.
The socket system also means that damaged panels can also be easily and quickly removed and, although the HVM Socketed Guardrail is fitted with standard two-metre fence panels, it makes it compatible with more ornate railings befitting more historical landmarks.
Mark Stone, managing director of Securiscape, said: “Our HVM Socketed Guardrail offers a more robust and more flexible solution than the standard pedestrian guardrail and is suitable for more locations, including bridges.
“We’re delighted to have reinvented the guardrail concept with a product that is not only stronger and a genuinely life-saving but is more adaptable and more convenient.”
